About Us

On East Grand River Avenue, the Howell Elks Lodge has built something most bars can only claim: a room where strangers become regulars after a single Friday night. Rated 4.6 stars across 78 reviews, this isn't hype, it's a habit. The staff runs the place like a neighborhood living room, and the patrons follow their lead.

Every Friday the place hums. The Fish Fry Friday draws crowds during Lent and well beyond, turning out some of the best fried fish in Livingston County. Karaoke fills the room with voices ranging from polished to enthusiastic, and nobody minds which end of the spectrum you land on. The Queen of Hearts drawing kicks off at 7 PM and turns a simple raffle into a weekly event people actually plan their evenings around.

Membership opens doors to a broader mission, but you don't have to carry a card to walk in the door with a friend and discover what the fuss is about. The mix of ages, the $2 draft pints, and the homemade meatloaf dinners have a way of turning a first visit into a standing Friday plan.

What We Offer

The Lodge runs a full bar with some of the most competitive drink prices in the area. $2 draft beer is not a limited-time promotion, it's just the standard, and it keeps the room lively without emptying your wallet.

The kitchen punches above its weight on the nights it counts. Homemade meatloaf dinners, the Friday fish fry, and burger nights give regulars real reasons to skip the chain restaurants down the road. Live music rounds out select evenings, with karaoke anchoring the Friday night schedule.

The banquet room handles private events, fundraisers, and group gatherings with flexible capacity. Weekly events include Keno, the Queen of Hearts drawing every Friday at 7 PM, and rotating entertainment that keeps the calendar worth checking. Whether you're planning a private party or just showing up for the fish, there's always something on.

"Im a little biased because a lot of my family are members here but cheap beer, good cheap food, and sports on the tvs are Staples at this lodge. Lots of truly wonderful people frequent are members of and frequent this lodge. Definitely worth stopping by for one of their Saturday or Sunday football parties."

"I take a friend of mine there when we are able so that he can play Pokémon with a group of friends on Sundays. Everyone is very friendly, very clean and we can get 2 hot dogs, a pop with refills and a bag of chips pretty darn cheap👍🏻👍🏻"

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to be an Elks member to visit?

No. Guests are welcome, especially when accompanied by a member. Many first-time visitors come for karaoke or the fish fry and end up becoming regulars. Check with the Lodge about current guest policies if you're planning a first visit.

When is the Fish Fry Friday held?

Fish Fry Friday runs on Friday evenings and is especially popular during the Lent season. It consistently draws strong crowds and has earned a reputation as one of the better fish fries in the Howell area.

What is the Queen of Hearts drawing?

How much is draft beer at the Lodge?

Draft beer is $2.00, and that price is a staple of the bar, not a special promotion. It's one of the reasons the Lodge draws a steady crowd throughout the week.
